Last week the SSP 2025 Annual Meeting took place in Baltimore. It was my first time attending the conference, and also the first time visiting the city of Baltimore. Unfortunately, there was hardly any time to discover the city, but the conference definitely didn’t disappoint!

The theme this year was ‘Reimagining the future of scholarly publishing at the intersection of value and values’. And there is a lot to think about for the future with the ever increasing developments in AI, but also pressure on academic budgets and integrity challenges. In one of the sessions, the white paper of Research Consulting was presented, which highlighted the most pressing issues for society publishers with ‘recruiting peer reviewers’ as the most pressing issue. It shows again the importance of what we are building at Global Campus!

It was very clear from the conversations I had at the conference that this issue resonates and is something many struggle with. With the ever increasing number of integrations we have with submission and peer review systems, the value of Global Campus is available to more and more journals.

Next to all the engaging workshops, keynotes and meetings, there was also time to connect with people over dinner and at the baseball stadium. And still, there wasn’t enough time to connect with everyone present. So if you didn’t have the chance to catch up with us and would like to see what Global Campus is about, feel free to reach out to Paul directly through paul@globalcampus.ai.
