Earlier this week we attended the NWO ICT Open 2025, in Utrecht, showcasing Global Campus and sharing our recently open vacancy as Junior backend developer.

After a quiet start, the first poster session brought a lot of curious researchers to our booth, interested in seeing their own network and connections in Global Campus, as well as their expertise wheel. In some particular cases, where researchers have published in very distinct fields, this diverse knowledge was clearly shown in their profile, which they found very insightful and relevant.

In general, people were very interested not only in seeing what the tool is capable of, but also in some of the technical aspects of it – where do we get our data from, how does the semantic search work or which visualization techniques are used in the expertise wheel. There was often someone who was interested in knowing how they could use some of the methods we use at Global Campus to help them solve issues withing their own research. Thus, knowledge sharing was, for us, a key highlight of the ICT Open 2025, creating a space where we could openly discuss the ideas behind the platform, some of the issues we faced and how we solved them.

It is certainly an event that brings new perspectives, fresh ideas and opens new directions for innovation and collaboration by Building digital bridges.
